"School Hub" events on Wednesday 2nd + Tuesday 8th March

We're looking to recruit keen volunteers to help out at "school hub" events, organised by the Cambridge Science Festival. Each event will involve a large secondary school hosting pupils from nearby schools, and will involve a number of fun science events from other organisations as well as CHaOS. These events are a new venture for the science festival and sound like great fun! CHaOS organises the transport and a free lunch, so all you'll have to do is show up on the day with plenty of enthusiasm!

Event 1: Wednesday 2nd March, Sawston Village College, Cambridgeshire. Event = 9.30am - 12.00pm
Event 2: Tuesday 8th March, Thomas Deacon Academy, Peterborough. Event = 1.00 - 5.00pm

There's a link to these events on the Science Festival site here:

There are two events- one runs in the morning, the other in the afternoon, and in both cases we'd pick you up in Cambridge. We're expecting a number of CHaOS roadshow-style sessions, with about 12 student demonstrators working with two classes of kids in sessions that last about an hour. (If you haven't done a CHaOS event before, we'd give you an experiment from a selection you've asked for, show you how to demonstrate it, then let you show it to small groups of kids. After about 10-15 minutes the groups swap around and you'll get to talk to a new group of kids). In between sessions we'll make sure everyone's well supplied with snacks and drinks! Once the sessions are over we then pack up the kit and drive back to Cambridge, having had a great day making science fun for kids!

We're keen to get both new and experienced demonstrators involved, so if you're free on either of the two dates above do think about signing up!

Please note that:
- there are school events, so we'll need you to apply for a CRB check if you haven't already got one
- you'll need to be available for approx 2 hours either side of the start/finish time to allow for transport + set-up/clear-up
