Information for families

CHaOS run free drop-in events for families, both in Cambridge and around the UK. These are full of exciting hands-on science experiments explained by friendly student volunteers. These experiments are likely to include bridge building, extracting DNA from kiwi fruit, a camera that can see invisible light, mini explosions made with lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda and much much more! You'll probably also get to meet Boris, our lifesize plastic skeleton!

CHaOS in Cambridgeshire

CHaOS run free hands-on events for families several times a year in Cambridgeshire. Each of these events in on a weekend, and you can drop in at any point during our opening times (though we usually get full very quickly for "Crash, Bang, Squelch!").

Our biggest event is "Crash, Bang, Squelch!", which is held at the Zoology Department (in central Cambridge) on a Saturday in mid-March as part of the Cambridge Science Festival. We also run a second event in the Cambridge Science Festival at the Physics Department (in west Cambridge), on the weekend after "Crash, Bang. Squelch!".
